Plataformas de Ensino e Material Didático

Primeira fase do curso ESL PodcastLand

I have been developing, building and testing educational spaces for years. I have worked on platforms and creating thousands of websites, materials, audios and videos for all levels including exam preparation, EAP, ESP, ESL and EFL. All the contents and materials of these websites are copyright protected and cannot be distributed or republished without written permission.

I am combining and implementing expertise and experience, educational knowledge, pedagogical knowledge and technological knowledge highlighting two main aspects:

1) Some challenges that students might have in using the tool

As Google Drive might be operated by phone, tablet or desktop some non-native might have to get to know how to operate when in a different device he/she had learned firstly. Intuitive and easy to use, it is a popular free service that allows beginners get concerned in activities according to the lesson plan and objectives without losing focus, see updates in real time with coauthors, that would positively balance technology experience among the disparity of levels in a heterogeneous group. Because it encompasses Google Docs, Google Slides (similar to MS PowerPoint), Google Sheets, allocate collaborative editing simultaneously, automatic saved and with offline capabilities, one who wasn’t familiarized with information technology, let’s say never used a Word Processor, might resist at first, except for when glimpsing into a peer writing remotely in his/her Doc and being able to assist him/her. This fantastic way to interact with others, and the exciting possibilities for collaboration and understanding willpower control and avoid external distractions of technology helping apprentices and proficient to apply the tools toward class assignments.

2) How we would deal with multi-levels (digital-natives and non-natives combined) using this tool in the same class

Using a survey form that details what students can and cannot do. Once identified that one need extra support of the majority category, requires learning how to use the tool in a broad-spectrum, direction and time we might pair learners in proportion to their handiness level. Work in pairs or small groups. Giving the beginner the opportunity to manage the tool, assisted by one who is more experienced, therefore motivating both levels of technological abilities to teach and to learn something in English by now. Provide clear guidelines to all learners and endow with timed pattern doings and more guided activities to help students become familiarized with the latest tools allocating time for learners who are digital natives and have already followed what we are doing, turn and help their neighbors. It would in fact lead the digital natives to use the new technology in the way the teacher is requiring to. Make a second survey to assess students’ abilities to know if it would be needed to provide tutorials.

We offer security to users of our platforms. Most apps like Google Hangout, Skype, and Zoom give us the option to make and receive calls by logging in to their site on your web browser without downloading any special software. Using a browser instead of downloading an app is an easy way to stay a little safer.

Justificativa Overview

The use of podcasts

Technology has also influenced teachers and students in their relationship with education. Podcasts are an integral part of this relationship, a very useful tool in ELT, enabling teachers to create authentic materials which are appropriate to the needs and interests of learners. Podcasting provides a relaxed opportunity to learn English, improve listening and vocabulary significantly and to speak and write more accurately, as students can create and publish their own podcasts.

ESL PodcastLand is an intensive program designed for non-native English speakers who are interested in developing the skills needed for international communication. In this course students will explore podcasts, texts and media through authentic materials and materials specially designed for EFL/ESL learners, while developing their skills, research and produce podcasts, develop local and global news stories, improving vocabulary and increasing listening and reading comprehension. The week 1 module provides opportunity for learners develop supporting skills and learn about learning. In week 2 module, students will learn and practice describing and giving information about cities, countries and other places; learn more about cross cultural communication, discuss stereotypes, social behaviors, and conversation tips. In week 3 module, learners will discuss customs and habits across cultures, cultural values, discuss hypothetical situations, wishes, and regrets. In week 4 module, learners will discuss changes in lifestyles, analyze how changes affect people, discuss attitude toward changes; talk about effective communicators, compare attitudes toward public speaking and language, discuss appropriate language use and storytelling.

Nos Estados Unidos
Justificativa/Overview/USA

Justificativa/Overview/EUA

Emerging Uses of Technology in Language Teaching and Learning

Technology has become more and more part of our lives on a daily basis. Whether at home, work, school, or on the road, it is always there to make our lives easier, more productive and more efficient. Therefore, transferring this concept into the classroom is not a long shot. Blogs, social networking, YouTube videos, and other social media means can be utilized in order to make a lesson more interactive, engaging, and entertaining. It facilitates language learning, and it provides a natural contact with authentic language use. There is also The Computer-Assisted Language Leaning (CALL) program was created to promote individualized learning catering to each students’ needs. Like everything in life; technology can be beneficial or detrimental to the language learning process depending on how and how often it is utilized.

Some of disadvantages of using technology in the classroom are that it can cause confusion when there is a technical problem. In addition, if a teacher has a lesson planned around technology and the system or the internet is down, it can be a problem if there is not alternative plan to ensure the completion of the lesson. Furthermore, if technology is overused or being used for the same types of activities, students might get bored and not be so motivated to using it on a regular basis. Also, students could be distracted by technology, so teachers have to continually monitor their activities in order for them to stay on task. Therefore, if teachers are aware of the advantages and disadvantages, they can be fully prepared to handle unexpected issues that may arise when implementing and integrating technology to the learning environment.

Google Sites

Utilizing Google Sites in the class ESL Podcastland

Google Docs

Using Google Docs as material didático

In this class, we chose not to utilize a specific textbook because we would have to adopt several books to accomplish our vision and objectives for this class.

Wix Site
